A large number of microproteins encoded by ncRNAs have been identified and validated, which are essential players in many cellular processes, from normal development to malignant transformation. Despite their genomic prevalence, relatively few microproteins have been structurally and functionally characterized. In addition, protein structure as well as which effective molecules binding to proteins could provide fundamental insight into their function. Exploring the structure and functional roles of microproteins encoded by ncRNAs is indispensable.
Here, we developed the MicroProteinDB database to reanalyze microproteins mainly originated from lncRNAs, circRNA, sRNA, misc-RNA, etc.
MicroProteinDB provides a knowledge base on sequences, structures and function of 51,095 ncRNA-derived microproteins across 15 cancer types and 31 non-cancerous tissues.
