Functional description
To explore why miR-7 expression was downregulated in breast cancer cells and BCSCs, we examined HOTAIR expression and found that the downregulation of miR-7 was closely related to the high level of HOTAIR expression in breast cancer patients. HOTAIR inhibits many tumor suppression genes including HoxD10 in MDA-MB-231 cells. We downregulated the expression of HOTAIR by RNA interference in MDA-MB-231 cells and found that the expression of HoxD10 along with miR-7 were enhanced.
