Hepatitis B virus X protein accelerates the development of hepatoma.

Functional description
MiR-205 was downregulated in the liver of HBx-transgenic mice. HBx can abrogate the effect of miR-205 on tumor suppression in carcinogenesis12. The downregulation of miR-205 mediated by HBx remarkably increases the expression levels of acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 1 (ACSL1), and its metabolite triglyceride levels are remarkably increased in HBx-induced liver cancer tissues, as shown in an HBx transgenic mice model.
