| Title | Involvement of protein kinase Cd and extracellular signal-regulated kinase-2 in the suppression of microglial inducible nitric oxide synthase expression by N-[3,4-dimethoxycinnamoyl]-anthranilic acid (tranilast) |
| Result | In summary, we show that TNL inhibits LPS-induced activation of iNOS by inhibiting the activation of PKCd and ERK-2, thus possibly affecting post-translational modification of iNOS mRNA. Our result may have further implications for the use of TNL as a novel therapeutic agent in neurological disorders associated with activation of microglia and increased NO release, including multiple sclerosis |
| Mechanism/pathway | PKCd and ERK-2 |
