Overview of BioM2MetDisease

BioM2MetDisease is a comprehensive database that provides manually curated associations between various metabolic diseases and biomolecules (miRNAs, metabolites, small molecules/drugs). In the current release, BioM2MetDisease database contains 2681 entries including associations between 524 miRNAs and 45 metabolic diseases; 281 metabolites and 35 metabolic diseases; 349 small molecules/drugs and 57 metabolic diseases across 14 species by reviewing more than 8000 published literatures (the same biomolecules in different species were counted only once).

BioM2MetDisease offers 1) Browse and 2) Search pages as well as downloadable lists of biomolecule -metabolic disease associations. 3) The Download page allows users to freely download all data stored in BioM2MetDisease. 4) BioM2MetDisease offers a submission page for users to submit novelty validated associations. Once the submission approved by our review committee, the record(s) will be involved in the update release.

Browse help

In the Browse page, users can browse the biomolecule–metabolic disease associations by clicking a specific miRNA, metabolite, small molecule/drug. Then, users can filter the results by selecting a specific biomolecule category, species, experimental method, etc. and a corresponding results table will display.

Search help

In the Search page, users can search by a specific metabolic disease name or a biomolecule name (miRNA, metabolite, small molecule/drug). Users can also search by inputting both biomolecule (miRNA, metabolite, small molecule/drug) and metabolic disease name. BioM2MetDisease provides an option in the ‘Search’ page that enables users to filter associations by specific experimental methods. BioM2MetDisease offers a ‘fuzzy search’ function for the entries by the full or partial names of biomolecules and/or metabolic diseases.

BioM2MetDisease data table

There is a data table shows when users initiate a search request. Each entry contains the information about biomolecule (miRNA, metabolite, small molecule/drug), metabolic disease and their relationships, including Biomolecule category, Species, Biomolecule name, Disease name, PubMed ID and details. Users can click on the "Download Search Result" button to download the data table and the "details" button to view a comprehensive information about this entry.

BioM2MetDisease details

To get detailed information on BioM2MetDisease needs to click on the "details" button of the data table. It will open another page to show a comprehensive information of the selected entry. In addition, hyper link to the reference and other databases (miRBase, HMDB, PubChem, DrugBank, etc.) are provided.

Download help

The Download page allows users to freely download all the biomolecule-metabolic disease association data.
